Congratulations to Dr. Feroze Mahmood for his appointment as Course Director of SCA's 'Echo Week'! Echo Week is a 5-day course hosted by the Society of Cardiovascular Anesthesiologists and covers the fundamentals and applications of echocardiography.

Congratulations to the Valve Research Team for presenting their research at the 5th annual HMS Surgery Research Day. Special shoutout to Rabya Saraf for being one of 16 people who had podium presentations and for receiving the 'Excellence in Surgery Research' award!

Congratulations to the Valve Research Group for their wonderful posters and presentations at the 38th Annual SCA Conference! Of note were the five out of fifteen 'Best of Meeting Abstract Presentations' that were authored and presented by our very own Ziyad Knio, Jelliffe Jeganathan and Rabya Saraf. 

Original Research Article Accepted by PLOS One

Congratulations to Dr. Matyal and her team for the acceptance of their original research article by PLOS ONE. The article, titled 'Early Cellular Changes in the Ascending Aorta and Myocardium in a Swine Model of Metabolic Syndrome' was able to show that preclinical metabolic syndrome initiates pro-apoptosis and pro-fibrosis pathways in the heart and ascending aorta, while sparing coronary arteries at this early stage of dietary modification.
